    India’s Techade: Semiconductor Solutions for a Developed India

    Professor A. Ravinder Nath, the Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir), led a gathering of faculty, scholars, and students to watch Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s live address on “India’s Techade: Chips for Viksit Bharat.” This event included the laying of the foundation stone for three semiconductor projects valued at approximately Rs 1.25 lakh crores. Hosted by the Schools of Physical Sciences and Engineering at the Tulmulla Campus, the seminar discussed the significance of semiconductor technologies and their role in India’s self-reliance agenda, Atmanirbhar Bharat.

     

    Prime Minister Modi hailed the occasion as historic, marking a pivotal moment for India’s future with the initiation of three major semiconductor projects in Gujarat and Assam. He emphasized the importance of these projects in establishing India as a semiconductor hub, highlighting the participation of over 60,000 educational institutions in the event.

     

    Vice-Chancellor Professor A. Ravinder Nath underscored the importance of socially relevant research and urged universities to focus on initiatives that contribute to a developed India (Viksit Bharat). Invited speaker Dr. Shabir Ahmad Parah discussed the significance of innovation, technology, and the process of patent filing, encouraging faculty to foster innovative thinking among students.

     

    Professor Mohammad Yousuf, Dean of the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences, emphasized the importance of semiconductor technology and advocated for interdisciplinary collaboration among departments for joint research endeavors. Assistant Professor Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Najar delved into advancements in semiconductor technology, including quantum computing and emerging materials like graphene.

     

    Assistant Professor Dr. Raja Nisar highlighted the seminar’s relevance in the context of India’s progress in semiconductor technology. Dr. Rubiya Samad served as the rapporteur for the event.
