Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, virtually inaugurated two Centers of Excellence (CoE) – media & entertainment and electronics at Skill Development Institute (SDI) in Bhubaneswar today. This initiative aims to equip the youth with employability and futuristic skills, opening avenues for employment in renowned organizations on a large scale.

In his address at Kaushal Bhawan, New Delhi, Pradhan emphasized the significance of skilling initiatives and partnerships in preparing the population for 21st-century job markets, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, and driving economic growth. He highlighted the launch of various skilling initiatives to enhance the skill development ecosystem, empower youth with demand-driven skills, and fulfill the Modi Guarantee of empowering citizens with employability skills.

Pradhan expressed that the inauguration of Centers of Excellence for HVAC and Media & Entertainment at SDI Bhubaneswar will strengthen skilling efforts in Odisha. These CoEs will provide industry-ready skills to youth, making them employable, enhancing livelihoods, and fostering entrepreneurship. He commended all stakeholders for their collaborative efforts in furthering the skilling agenda.

The media & entertainment center, spanning 4000 square feet, and the electronics center, covering 1920 square feet, feature state-of-the-art facilities like smart classrooms, Wi-Fi access, and digital learning platforms, catering to diverse needs of modern education and skill development.

Aligned with the goals of NEP 2020, the centers aim to empower aspiring candidates in the media & entertainment sector, nurturing next-generation content creators. The collaborative environment and integrated training and production facility equip students with essential skills and resources needed for successful careers.

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) will provide specialized training programs in HVAC, strengthening students’ fundamentals and preparing them for thriving careers. Previous launches of Skill India Centers (SICs) in various districts have been well-received, establishing the state as a hub for futuristic skills.

These centers play a pivotal role in meeting the demands for next-gen professionals across industries, bridging skill gaps, and enhancing employability through industry-specific courses and networking opportunities. By actively engaging with industry experts, they promote standardization, preserve cultural heritage, and generate employment opportunities, reflecting the government’s commitment to driving transformative impact across sectors.
