The University of Texas (UT) demonstrates its excellence and significant impact in the most recent rankings for graduate schools.

The University of Texas at Austin maintains its position as one of the leading institutions for graduate studies, as per the latest “Best Graduate Schools” rankings released by U.S. News & World Report. UT has made notable advancements across various disciplines, notably with the College of Education entering the top 10.

While U.S. News has postponed the release of rankings for engineering, medicine, and clinical psychology—fields where UT has historically secured top positions and top 10 rankings—the partial release highlights UT’s continued presence in the top 10 for five colleges and schools. These include the College of Education (No. 8), the School of Information (No. 5), the Steve Hicks School of Social Work (No. 8), the College of Pharmacy (No. 6), and the Jackson School of Geosciences (No. 7) within Earth Sciences. Additionally, three specialties have secured the top spot in the country: Accounting, Latin American History, and Sociology of Population. Overall, UT boasts 42 graduate schools and specialty programs ranked in the top 10 when combined with previous years.

President Jay Hartzell commented on the rankings, emphasizing UT’s ability to attract exceptional faculty and students, which contributes to its reputation for excellence and impact across various disciplines. Noteworthy advancements include the College of Education’s rise to the top 10, climbing eight spots to No. 8. The McCombs School of Business also improved its ranking by four places, securing the 16th position overall.

The rankings, considered the gold standard for graduate and professional programs, are based on surveys of academic leaders and additional quantitative measures. While some specialty rankings are updated annually, others are republished periodically. U.S. News plans to release rankings for engineering, medicine, and psychology at a later date.

Graduate schools, programs, and specialties at UT that have been ranked in the top 25 include various disciplines across business, education, health sciences, law, library and information studies, nursing, public affairs, the sciences, and social sciences and humanities.
