Established in 2011 with just 10 students, a government primary school situated in the village of GanaieMohallaPariwan, Kulgam, has defied expectations and emerged as a symbol of educational excellence. Guided by committed teachers and supported by the local community, this Government Primary School has evolved into a benchmark institution, competing with private schools in terms of quality.
Zahoor Ahmad Shah, one of the pioneering educators at the school, shared the story of proactive community involvement. “We engaged and sensitized mothers, who often have more availability, encouraging them to participate in meetings and play an active role in their children’s education,” Shah explained. He underscored the school’s dedication to supplying essential learning materials to disadvantaged students, such as notebooks, pencils, and pens.
Muzafer Ahmad Lone, another passionate teacher with specialized training, introduced innovative teaching techniques to enhance classroom engagement. From puppetry to project-based learning, the curriculum was enriched to foster students’ intellectual curiosity. Embracing Information and Communication Technology (ICT), the school incorporated modern teaching aids like overhead projectors and virtual reality headsets.
“Our teachers’ confidence in the quality of education here is evident from their choice to enroll their own children in the school,” Lone affirmed. Despite encountering challenges like limited infrastructure, with three rooms accommodating over 129 students across eight classes, the school’s dedication to excellence remains steadfast.
AltafHussain, a parent of a student at the school, expressed contentment with the educational standards. However, he urged authorities to provide additional infrastructure to address overcrowding concerns and ensure a conducive learning environment for all students.
As the Government Primary School in Kulgam continues its remarkable journey of expansion and transformation, it stands as a testament to the influence of committed educators and collaborative community efforts in shaping the future of education.
