The government of Jammu and Kashmir aims to educate 350,000 adults.

The Jammu and Kashmir government plans to educate 350,000 adults as part of the New India Literacy Programme in the 2024-25 fiscal year, aiming to bolster education and infrastructure.

In addition to this initiative, the government has several other plans set for implementation during the fiscal year 2024-25 to improve schools, colleges, and educational standards throughout the Union Territory.

According to official documents, schools ranging from primary to senior secondary levels under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan will receive annual grants ranging from 5,000 to 20,000 for book purchases, aimed at enhancing access to quality education and enriching the learning experience for students of all ages.

Recognizing the significance of early childhood education in laying a robust foundation for lifelong learning, the government intends to establish 2000 kindergartens in 2024-25.

Approximately 8.43 lakh elementary-level students will benefit from fortified rice meals under the Mid-Day Meal Scheme, ensuring improved nutritional health among school children.

Additionally, 233 schools are scheduled for upgrades under the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India Scheme, aimed at modernizing school facilities and creating conducive learning environments.

To support economically disadvantaged girl students, the government plans to provide a scholarship of 5000 each under the Beti Anmol Scheme, enabling access to education and empowering young girls to pursue their academic aspirations.

Furthermore, 18,723 schools will be equipped with sports equipment to encourage physical activity and foster a culture of sportsmanship among students across the Union Territory, with a financial allocation of 18.50 crore.

On the higher education front, the government aims to complete the construction of five newly established colleges during the 2024-25 fiscal year. Additionally, two hostel blocks, two science blocks, and additional lecture blocks in various colleges will be finalized to enhance infrastructure and accommodate growing student populations.
