A workshop on the preservation of fruits was conducted.

ALIGARH: The Centre of Continuing and Adult Education and Extension (CCAEE) at Aligarh Muslim University recently hosted a workshop focused on “Fruit Preservation,” in collaboration with the Department of Horticulture and Fruit Preservation, Aligarh District. Mr. Shyam Sundar served as the resource person for the event.

During the workshop, Mr. Sundar addressed various challenges encountered by self-help groups and underscored the significance of venturing into start-ups within the fruit preservation-based food products sector. He provided essential guidance to learners at the center regarding establishing small-scale businesses involved in the production and marketing of items such as squashes, mixed fruit jam, mixed pickle, among others.

Approximately 70 students participated in a practical examination conducted subsequent to the workshop and demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter, leading to their successful completion.

Dr. Shamim Akhtar, the Director of the Centre, highlighted the importance of forming self-help groups for the successful launch of start-ups, citing the exemplary growth trajectory of Lijjat Papad, which evolved from a small business venture into a significant industry.

Furthermore, Dr. Akhtar announced that the center would organize a sale of products crafted by its learners on March 9 within the premises of the center.
