In Aligarh, the Academic Council meeting of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) was held today at the University Polytechnic Auditorium. The meeting deliberated on 44 academic agendas concerning the university’s academic affairs. These included arrangements for conducting entrance exams for B.Tech, Class XI, B.A.LL.B., and MBA programs in Delhi for the upcoming academic session, as well as proposals to increase seats in the LLM program and introduce postgraduate scholarships in various departments.
Chaired by Vice-Chancellor Professor Mohammad Gulrez, the meeting was attended by 120 members, including AMU Registrar Mr. Mohammad Imran (IPS), Controller of Examinations Dr. Mujeebullah Zuberi, Deans of various faculties, Department Chairpersons, College Principals, Provosts, and Directors of Centers.
Decisions were made during the meeting to establish entrance centers for B.Tech, Class XI, B.A.LL.B., and MBA exams in Delhi for the convenience of students in the surrounding areas. Additionally, the number of seats in the LL.M. program offered by the Faculty of Law was increased from 35 to 50.
The Academic Council also sanctioned the provision of PG merit scholarships to students in the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and the departments of Computer Engineering, Political Science, and Statistics & Operations Research.
Furthermore, the admission committee’s report was reviewed and approved after extensive discussion. Following this approval, the admission process for the academic session 2023–24 will commence shortly.
Additionally, instructions were given to finalize agreements and memoranda of understanding with various foreign universities, and the Medical Education Curriculum Guidelines of the National Medical Council were endorsed.
The Academic Council meeting also endorsed the formation of expert panels by various university departments for the selection committee.
