    IIT Roorkee partners with NIH to organize the Roorkee Water Conclave 2024, focusing on sustainable water management.

    The much-awaited Roorkee Water Conclave 2024, organized by IIT Roorkee in collaboration with the National Institute of Hydrology Roorkee (NIH), commenced on Monday with its inauguration.

    The collaborative effort between IIT Roorkee and the National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee, has brought forth the Roorkee Water Conclave 2024, which commenced on Monday with much anticipation. This event, attended by over 50 international experts and more than 12 exhibitors, focuses on critical aspects of responsible water management and the circular economy, aiming to pave the way for a sustainable future.

     

    According to a press release, the partnership between the National Institute of Hydrology (NIH) and IIT Roorkee enhances the impact of the Roorkee Water Conclave by amalgamating expertise from both institutions with a profound legacy in the water sector.

     

    The conclave serves as a vital platform for global discourse on water resources management, covering topics ranging from water management to emerging technologies, thereby facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange.

     

    Under the patronage of the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India, the conclave witnessed an address by Prof. Berit Arheimer, a hydrologist from the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) and President of the International Association for Hydrological Sciences. Prof. Arheimer emphasized the crucial role of collaborative platforms like the Roorkee Water Conclave in tackling global water challenges and highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary dialogue and knowledge exchange in developing sustainable water management solutions.

     

    During the Presidential Address, Prof. K.K. Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, expressed that the conclave underscores the institution’s dedication to advancing knowledge and fostering collaboration in the critical area of water management. He also highlighted the significance of the conclave’s patronage by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, reflecting the government’s commitment to addressing water-related issues.

     

    Dr. M.K. Goel, Director of the National Institute of Hydrology Roorkee, emphasized that the conclave offers a unique opportunity for stakeholders to exchange ideas and chart a course towards sustainable water management by leveraging collective expertise and resources.

     

    Other notable speakers at the conclave included Prof. Arun Kumar, Convener of Roorkee Water Conclave 2024, and Prof. Ankit Agarwal from the Department of Hydrolog.
