As per the AICTE announcement, the newly introduced scholarship program will offer financial assistance amounting to ₹7.5 crore annually to 3000 female students hailing from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Each student will receive an annual grant of ₹25,000 under this initiative. AICTE plans to allocate ₹7.5 crore per year for three years to support female students. This scholarship is exclusively for female students pursuing BBA, BCA, and BMS courses from AICTE-approved institutions.
Prof. T.G. Sitharam, the Chairman of AICTE, stated during the scheme’s unveiling, “AICTE is committed to empowering women and enabling their full potential in technical and management education. While we already have the PRAGATI scheme for female engineering students, with BBA, BCA, and BMS programs falling under the AICTE umbrella this year, we deemed it fitting to introduce a dedicated scheme for female undergraduate management students to foster gender equality, facilitate affordable education, and empower women in management studies.”
The announcement further emphasized AICTE’s dedication to empowering women in engineering and technology on International Women’s Day through progressive initiatives. It emphasized that encouraging and supporting women in engineering and management is not only morally right but also imperative for India’s advancement and prosperity, aligning with the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
