In Aligarh, the Department of Periodontia and Community Dentistry at Dr. Ziauddin Ahmad Dental College (ZADC), Aligarh Muslim University, orchestrated a series of events in honor of National Periodontist Day. These events included an awareness program and a Perio Quiz.
Prof Vivek Kumar Sharma, the department’s Chairman, underscored the significance of preventive care and education for fostering a healthier oral environment. He personally guided each patient visiting the OPD to educate them about oral hygiene practices. Prof Sharma extended gratitude to the Indian Society of Periodontology for its support in organizing the event.
A Perio Quiz competition was held to engage undergraduate and postgraduate students in knowledge enhancement and community awareness initiatives. Under the supervision of Dr. Afaf Zia, nine teams, each consisting of four members, participated enthusiastically. Dr. Zia commended the participants for their dedication to advancing their understanding of periodontics.
The team comprised of Dr. Sidra, Dr. Ramsha, Dr. Sabaat, and Dr. Saman Afaque emerged victorious in the quiz. They were awarded wooden toothbrushes and certificates from the Indian Society of Periodontology.
