A Science Park has been inaugurated in Baramulla ahead of the resumption of classwork.

On February 29th, ahead of the reopening of schools across Kashmir, a Science Park was inaugurated in Baramulla. The project aims to actively involve students in scientific concepts through games and simulations in an outdoor setting.

Located in the Ushkura area near the Baramulla main highway, the park was opened on Tuesday. It was established by the Pune-based NGO 1-Aseem Foundation in collaboration with the 19 Infantry Division of the Indian Army.

After the inauguration of the Science Park, students visited the venue to gain firsthand experience and actively engage with scientific concepts.

President of Aseem Foundation, Sarang Gosawi, mentioned to Greater Kashmir that the initiative will provide a platform for students to explore beyond traditional teaching methods. It offers an interactive space for them to actively engage with scientific concepts through games and simulations.

“The aim of this science park is to actively engage students in scientific concepts. The project was developed here after recognizing the need to make science education more interactive and accessible,” he stated.

After the Science Park was opened, students immediately engaged with periscopes, seesaws, and demonstrations of concepts like torque through tug of war. Students from Sanctorum Institute Sopore, accompanied by their teachers, also visited the Science Park to experience the facilities firsthand.

“The establishment of the Science Park is a commendable initiative as it will undoubtedly increase students’ interest in science and mathematics and provide them with opportunities for innovative and creative learning,” remarked Shakir Ashraf, Managing Director of Sanctorum Institute, to Greater Kashmir.

“Our students are enthusiastic about it, and once the school reopens after the winter vacation, we will take them in groups to the newly established Science Park,” he added.

Shabnam, a teacher from Sopore, highlighted the value of the park as a resource for educators, noting that it provides teachers with insights into innovative teaching techniques, new experiments, and emerging scientific disciplines.
