UGC instructs universities to reimburse fees to students who transferred to alternative institutions.

In an official notice, the University Grants Commission (UGC) mandated Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to reimburse the fees of students who transferred to different institutions.

Following complaints from affected students who migrated to other institutions, the University Grants Commission (UGC) issued a notification. The UGC had been receiving numerous complaints about non-refund of fees from various Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs). The notification stated, “UGC has been receiving several complaints regarding non-refund of fee against many Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs). UGC has requested all the HEIs via emails and reminders to address the complaints received from students seeking a refund of fees paid to the institutes after those students migrated to other Institutions.” Additionally, the UGC warned universities that failure to comply with the regulations would result in punitive action as outlined in the relevant guidelines.
