    The Kidney Week event commenced at the Paramedical College, AMU.

    The Nephrology Division of the Department of Medicine, in collaboration with the Paramedical College, Faculty of Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University, organized Kidney Week in observance of World Kidney Day 2024. The week-long event, featuring a poster competition, skit performances, quiz competitions, and an awareness walk, will conclude with a prize distribution ceremony on March 14th.

    During the inaugural function held at the Paramedical College, Dr. Mohd Aslam, Professor and Incharge of the Nephrology Division, elaborated on the evolution of the dialysis course from a Diploma to an undergraduate program. He also underscored the pivotal role of Dialysis therapists and emphasized the importance of kidney health for everyone.

    Dr. Saif Quaisar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, discussed the theme of this year’s World Kidney Day, focusing on “equitable access to care and optimal medication practices,” and its significance for both the general public and healthcare professionals.

    Prof Ibne Ahmad, Principal of the Paramedical College, urged students to recognize the importance of their role in this journey, which directly impacts the lives of numerous individuals in need. He also acknowledged the invaluable support of the Nephrology division of the Department of Medicine.

    Prof Veena Maheshwari, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Principal & CMS of JNMCH, AMU, highlighted the increasing number of kidney disease patients and stressed the need for concern regarding this issue. Additionally, Prof. Maheshwari inaugurated the Dialysis Lab at the Paramedical College.

    Dr. Aamir Husain, Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, extended the vote of thanks.

    The event was attended by Prof. Mazhar Abbas, Prof. Adeeb Alam, Prof. Amir Bin Sabir, Prof. Azam Haseen, Prof. Farah Azmi, Dr. Husaini S Haider Mehedi, Dr. MohdAamir, Dr. Nusra Rahman, Dr. Mohsin Aijaz, Dr.Wasil Hasan, Dr. Anuradha, Ms. Saima Ahsan, Ms. Aatika Khan, Dr. Mohd Arfat, Mr. Gufran Jaleel, and students of B.Sc. in Dialysis Therapy Technology.

    Ms. Insha Firoz, Assistant Professor at the Paramedical College, welcomed the guests and provided an overview of the program.
