    The focus of education should prioritize creativity over adherence to curriculum, according to the LG.

    Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated a three-day capacity-building program focused on the ‘Leadership Development of Academic Administrators and Principals of Colleges of Jammu and Kashmir’. The event, jointly organized by the University of Jammu and the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), aims to address the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 and the internationalization of higher education.

     

    In his keynote address, Lt. Governor Sinha commended the collaborative efforts of the University of Jammu and NIEPA in organizing the workshop. He emphasized Jammu and Kashmir’s leading role in educational reforms under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

     

    Expressing the commitment of the J&K UT towards higher education reform, Lt. Governor Sinha stressed the importance of providing students with a curriculum that equips them to compete globally. He urged educational institutions to transform their campuses into hubs of skill development and innovation, contributing to the unlimited potential of the youth in Jammu and Kashmir.

     

    Lt. Governor Sinha outlined five key aims and vision to lay a strong foundation for future-oriented education. He advocated for classrooms to stimulate imagination and for mentoring to take precedence over teaching. Furthermore, he emphasized the need for education to be driven by creativity rather than curriculum, fostering a more competitive economy. Highlighting the importance of internationalization, Lt. Governor Sinha called for creating a conducive environment for foreign students in UT’s educational institutions.

     

    The event saw the participation of prominent figures including Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to Lt. Governor, and Prof. Dinesh Singh, Vice Chairman of J&K Higher Education Council, who emphasized reforms aimed at transforming universities into centers of knowledge and excellence.

     

    Several publications, including the magazine ‘Litzine’, Translation Samvad, and Academic Journal ‘Pariprekshya’, were released during the event. The occasion was attended by Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary of the Higher Education Department, Prof. Manisha Priyam from NIEPA, Vice Chancellors, HoDs, faculty members, educationists, experts, and scholars from various universities and educational institutions.
