AGS students honored for achieving gold at a national innovation competition.

Five students from Army Goodwill School (AGS) Wuzur, who achieved gold medals at a national innovation competition, were honored by both the school and army officials in Wuzur Qazigund.

These students have developed innovations enabling remote control of home appliances from anywhere in the world, as well as an irrigation detection system to aid farmers.

Participating in the grand exhibition “Young Creators League 2024” at Plaksha University, the students showcased their innovative projects. Among them are Arbaz Hussain Hargah, Moeen Javaid, Uzair Farooq, Basalat Reyaz, and Itoo Barika, mentored by Javid Ahmad and Humaira Rashid.

The overseeing teachers highlighted that the Innovation Club is an initiative of the Bharti Foundation, aimed at nurturing intelligent students with solutions for social and financial challenges. Utilizing an innovation kit provided by the Bharti Foundation, which included Ordino, the students created two remarkable innovations.

“One innovation is an Automatic Irrigation System, significantly aiding farmers by remotely controlling land irrigation from home and providing fertilizer information. The other team developed an Internet of Things (IoT) based Home Automation System, allowing control of home appliances from anywhere in the world,” stated the overseeing teacher.

Javid Ahmad mentioned that for testing purposes, they collaborated with someone in Bangalore who remotely controlled the home appliances, while they had control over the appliances in Bangalore, enabling them to turn them on and off.

“We later exhibited the project at Plaksha University, with support from the Bharti Foundation. This encouragement will motivate the students to pursue further achievements in their future endeavors,” the overseeing teacher added.

Moeen Javid expressed that their project was selected by the Young Creators League at Plaksha University. Named the Home Automation System, it enables control of home appliances via a phone. “The idea stemmed from our tendency to forget to switch off appliances at home when leaving,” one of the students explained.

“We extend our gratitude to the Bharti Foundation, the school staff, and the army officers who facilitated us,” he added.

An army officer commended the students for bringing honor to the school and encouraged them to continue their commendable work, noting that this support will also inspire other students.
