The Investor Awareness Programme Empowers Students at AMU.

The Department of Economics at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), in collaboration with Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL), recently organized an Investor Awareness Programme (IAP). The primary aim of this initiative was to educate undergraduate and postgraduate students, research scholars, and faculty members about the intricacies of the financial market.

Under the guidance of Mr. Alok Gautam, Assistant Manager at CDSL, and Dr. Akeeelur Rehman, Programme Coordinator, the sessions covered vital subjects such as risk management, investment dynamics, and the advantages of engaging in the capital market. Participants received insights into various investment opportunities, current financial market policies, and available schemes for investors.

Mr. Gautam highlighted the potential of mutual fund investments, diversification strategies, and the benefits provided by Mutual Fund Asset Management Companies. Additionally, attendees were furnished with informative booklets titled ‘Securities Market – Understanding from Investors Perspective’, published by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

Prof. Shehroz Alam Rizvi, the department’s Chairman, and Prof. SM Jawed Akhtar, the Convener, praised the speakers for sharing invaluable insights. Prof. Akhtar underscored the significance of such initiatives in preparing students to address financial management challenges in their careers.

The interactive session encouraged an exchange of ideas, enabling participants to interact directly with the speakers. The programme saw a turnout of over 135 individuals.

Dr. Shirin Rais, who oversaw the proceedings, mentioned that participants would receive certificates from CDSL.
