The Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) has released its 2023 summary, revealing that UrFU secured the second position among universities in terms of filed patent applications. It’s noteworthy that the university has demonstrated consistent performance growth. In 2022, there were slightly over 100 applications, whereas in 2023, the number increased to 127.
Dmitry Shulgin, Director of the UrFU Training and Research Center for Intellectual Property, commented on this achievement, stating, “Securing a position in the top three for inventions is a testament to the remarkable efforts of the university’s inventors. It’s crucial to highlight the increased activity of our scientific and pedagogical staff in submitting proactive applications. Furthermore, the number of patent applications originating from strategic projects of the University has nearly multiplied in 2023, particularly those under the Priority 2030 program. There’s still untapped potential in this area, and UrFU will continue to enhance motivational mechanisms and provide organizational and methodological support to foster inventive activities.”
