    In New Delhi, the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) marked its Foundation Day with a continuation of celebrations on the second day, featuring a training workshop titled ‘Museum Disaster Risk Reduction.’ This three-day workshop, organized by IGNCA in collaboration with the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), is scheduled to run until March 22nd.

     

    The inaugural session of the workshop commenced with a warm welcome extended by Dr. Achal Pandya, Head of IGNCA’s Conservation Division, to all participants. Notable dignitaries present included Shri Rajendra Ratnu (IAS, Executive Director, NIDM), Shri Pratapanand Jha (Dean, IGNCA), Dr. Richa Negi (Director, NMCM, IGNCA), and Dr. Ajinder Walia (Associate Professor and GIDRR Division Head, NIDM).

     

    Dr. Pratapanand Jha delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the workshop’s significance in addressing museum disaster risk reduction. He stressed the importance of asset conservation through digitization and the adoption of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) practices.

     

    Shri Rajendra Ratnu, Executive Director of NIDM, provided an overview of NIDM’s role in Disaster Management (DM) and highlighted cultural heritage preservation under the guidelines of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), and the Sendai Framework for Action.

     

    Dr. Richa Negi, Director of the NMCM Division at IGNCA, expressed gratitude to guests, trainers, and participants for their contributions to the session’s success.

     

    The Foundation Day celebrations of IGNCA also featured captivating classical performances, including a mesmerizing violin performance by the Akkarai sisters, S. Subbalakshmi and S. Sornalatha, and a soulful Sarod recital by Ayaan Ali Bangash, son of Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. Notable personalities in attendance included IGNCA’s President Shri Ram Bahadur Rai, Member Secretary Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi, Padma Vibhushan Dr. Sonal Mansingh, Padma Vibhushan Dr. Padma Subramaniam, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Dr. Sandhya Purecha, Dr. Priyanka Mishra, and other dignitaries.
