Amwoodo secures a $1 million investment from Rainmatter, which is backed by Zerodha.

Bamboo product manufacturer Amwoodo has secured $1 million in funding from Rainmatter, a venture fund backed by Zerodha. The capital infusion will be allocated towards machinery and equipment upgrades, skill development for artisans, and supporting expansion endeavors.

Established in 2019, Amwoodo specializes in crafting bamboo items such as combs, toothbrushes, razors, slippers, compostable sanitary bags, and towels. The company directly sources bamboo from approximately 400 farmers in the northeast region and collaborates with around 380 artisans. Final product refinement to meet export standards is conducted in its factories located in Howrah, Kolkata.

Operating in both the business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) sectors, Amwoodo serves notable clients including hospitality chains like Taj Hotels and The Leela, as well as direct-to-consumer brands such as Himalaya, Man Company, Nat Habit, and Kimirica.

Based in Kolkata, the company reported sales amounting to Rs 21.72 crore in the previous financial year. For the current fiscal year, Amwoodo targets sales of approximately Rs 60 crore.
