Two researchers from the University of Amsterdam (UvA) have been granted Rubicon awards by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO).

Danique de Moor, a PhD candidate at the Amsterdam Business School, and Julien Vos, who earned his PhD at the Faculty of Medicine in 2023, have secured Rubicon grants from the Dutch Research Council (NWO). These grants will enable De Moor and Vos to conduct research at foreign institutions, fostering their international experience, a pivotal milestone in many scientists’ careers. In this cycle, NWO awarded a total of seventeen young researchers Rubicon grants.

    Details of the UvA recipients:

    – Danique de Moor (Business Administration): Enhancing the geospatial accessibility of healthcare services through innovative optimization methods. With half of the world’s population lacking access to necessary healthcare, De Moor aims to improve the accessibility of healthcare services in low- and middle-income countries by devising new mathematical optimization techniques, prioritizing scalability. De Moor will spend 24 months at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States.

    – Dr. Julien Vos (Medicine): Establishing international standards for assessing the quality of cancer survivorship care. Vos’s project focuses on mapping the quality aspects of post-cancer care by consulting various stakeholders to identify key quality dimensions. Based on this input, Vos will develop guidelines for measuring the quality of care. Vos will undertake his research for 15 months at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in the United States.
