The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology, Aligarh Muslim University, hosted a webinar titled “Significance of Condition Monitoring in the Industry 4.0 Era.” The guest speaker was Er. M. Hemant Bari, Condition Monitoring Analyst and Deputy General Manager at Adani Electricity Limited, Mumbai.
During his lecture, Er. Bari delved into fault diagnosis of rotating equipment and Non-Destructive Testing, showcasing his expertise in diagnosing chronic issues in critical equipment at early stages to minimize potential damage, downtime, and generation loss.
Prof. M. Muzammil, Chairperson of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, welcomed Er. Bari and highlighted the webinar’s purpose of facilitating knowledge sharing, discussing recent developments, case studies, and best practices. He anticipated that the webinar would enrich participants’ understanding of machinery health monitoring and fault diagnosis.
Dr. Sidra Khanam, extending gratitude, emphasized the pivotal role of Condition Monitoring in Industry 4.0, enabling predictive maintenance, enhancing equipment efficiency, and reducing downtime and operational costs. She stressed the importance of leveraging data from sensors and advanced analytics to predict machinery failures preemptively, thereby bolstering productivity and sustainability.
The webinar attracted participants from various institutions, including Aasia Steel Factory (KSA), Dhofar University (Oman), IITs, and central and state universities, fostering interactive discussions during the question and answer session.
